The Weekend That Was

It's been awhile since I have had a real "weekend-y" sort of weekend. I had no indexing to do, and nothing else more pressing than some household maintenance and crafting on my plate.

It started on Thursday, when a friend and I went to the midnight showing of Twilight. I really enjoyed it and found Edward marvelously yummy.

On Friday--payday--I splurged (and I do mean splurged) on some fabulous Noro yarn for legwarmers.I am not sure why, but I have a real hankering to make and have thigh-high legwarmers. If Jason breaks out into "What a Feeling" one more time...

Despite the fact that I was sick yesterday, I was able to sit in bed and on the couch and start my knitting. But even better was that I was able to listen to Breaking Dawn on my iPod at the same time.
Legwarmers

Today, after sleeping in WAY too late, we had what I like to refer to "Marathon Church" where we have our family faith formation gathering. They serve lunch after Mass (which, fortunately, doesn't start until 11 am), and then have a series of educational activities. I was rather moved by today's lessons. It was probably aided by the fact that Jason didn't work today, so I was able to go with Quinn and Liam alone.

Jason got our TV hooked up this weekend, so in addition to learning about new shows such as "Trading Spouses" (not too bad) and "Charm School" (couldn't bring myself to watch it), we were finally able to enjoy a Bronco game today. Too bad they were slaughtered.

I watched my friend's kiddos this evening so she could watch Twilight, since she was sick on Thursday night (hmmm...I wonder why I ended up sick yesterday...just kidding, Quinn was sick on Thursday too), and while doing that was able to work on my holiday swap contributions. My friend and I organized a swap among seven friends. Each of us makes 35 of something (homemade soap, lip balm, and ceramic soap dishes are some examples of what folks are making), and sends 5 to each participant. Then, each person has five completed gift baskets to give as Christmas gifts. Here are some shots from tonight's activities.
Bath Swap
My "raw" ingredients.
Bath Swap
The two batches must have been slightly different in composition...or maybe I just mixed one more thoroughly.
Bath Swap
I had a little extra help for part of the evening.
Bath Swap
I also had to buy horrid made-in-China plastic bottles, since it took me so long to ultimately decide what to make that I couldn't place a Vitamin Cottage order in time.
Bath Swap
Everyone is sticking with a blue palette so that the baskets coordinate.
Bath Swap
All lined up and ready to go.

Sweet! I'm doing my soap tomorrow :-)

LOVE the legwarmer! Make me a pair too. Actually, can you make me some fingerless gloves, pretty please? Not wool though, I'm allergic. Thanks, you're a peach ;-)

is that a double oven? awesome.

Angela, it's an oven on one side and a broiler on the other. I'd much prefer a double oven, but we do occasionally use the broiler.
